1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Chronicle application ("App", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Chronicle is a mobile application that allows users to create visual timelines from travel photographs containing GPS location data. The Service includes:

• Photo upload and storage functionality
• Automatic GPS coordinate extraction and mapping
• Timeline generation and organization features
• Social sharing and discovery tools

3. User Responsibilities

3.1 Content Requirements

Users MUST ensure all uploaded content meets these requirements:

• GPS Data: Photos must contain embedded GPS coordinates
• Timestamp: Photos must have original date/time metadata
• Real People: Content must feature real people, not AI-generated or fake personas
• Travel Related: Photos must be related to genuine travel experiences
• Original Content: No stock photos, copyrighted images, or third-party content

Note: All messages and uploaded images are programmatically moderated on our servers to ensure compliance with our content policy.

3.2 Prohibited Content

The following content is STRICTLY PROHIBITED:

• AI-generated images or artificial content
• Stock photography or generic images
• Photos without GPS location data
• Fake profiles or impersonation
• Illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Content violating third-party rights

4. Community and Content Standards

4.1 Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content

Chronicle has a **zero-tolerance policy** for objectionable content and abusive users. You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any content that is:

• **Illegal or Harmful:** Content that promotes illegal acts, violence, or harm to individuals or groups.
• **Harassing or Abusive:** Content that harasses, bullies, or threatens other users.
• **Hate Speech:** Content that promotes discrimination, disparages, or incites hatred against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.
• **Sexually Explicit:** Nudity, pornography, or other sexually explicit material.
• **Spam:** Unsolicited commercial content, repetitive posts, or malware.

Any violation of this policy will result in immediate and irreversible account termination and removal of all associated content.

4.2 User Reporting and Blocking

We provide mechanisms for users to manage their experience and ensure a safe community. If you encounter objectionable content or abusive users, you can:

• **Report Content:** Flag objectionable content directly within the app.
• **Block Users:** Block abusive users to prevent them from contacting you.

The options to **"Block User"** and **"Report User"** are available within the top-right menu of the chat screen. You agree to use these features responsibly to help maintain a safe and respectful environment.

4.3 Enforcement and Moderation

Chronicle is committed to acting on all reports of objectionable content. Upon receiving a report, we will investigate and take action within **24 hours** by removing the offending content and ejecting the user who provided it. This includes permanent account termination for severe or repeated violations.

5. No Liability and User Responsibility

5.1 Complete User Responsibility

YOU ARE SOLELY AND COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• All content you upload to the Service
• Accuracy of GPS and location information
• Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Obtaining proper permissions for photos of other people
• Ensuring content does not violate third-party rights
• Any consequences resulting from your use of the Service

5.2 Chronicle's Disclaimer of Liability

CHRONICLE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR:

• User-generated content and its accuracy
• GPS location data accuracy or completeness
• Privacy breaches resulting from user's location sharing
• Interactions between users of the Service
• Any damages resulting from use of location information
• Technical errors, service interruptions, or data loss
• Actions taken by third parties based on shared information

6. Location Data and Privacy

6.1 GPS Data Processing

Chronicle automatically extracts GPS coordinates from uploaded photos for mapping purposes. By uploading photos, you:

• Consent to processing of embedded location data
• Acknowledge that location information may be shared publicly
• Accept responsibility for accuracy of GPS coordinates
• Understand that location data cannot be guaranteed accurate

6.2 Privacy Risks

WARNING: Sharing location data carries inherent privacy and security risks:

• Your travel patterns may be visible to other users
• Precise location coordinates are displayed on maps
• Historical location data may reveal personal information
• Third parties may use location data for various purposes

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 User Content Ownership

You retain ownership of photos you upload, but grant Chronicle:

• Worldwide, royalty-free license to display and process your content
• Right to extract and use GPS and metadata for Service functionality
• Right to moderate, remove, or restrict access to your content
• Right to use aggregated location data for Service improvement

7.2 Copyright Violations

Users must not upload copyrighted content without permission. Chronicle reserves the right to remove content and terminate accounts for copyright violations without notice.

8. Account Termination

8.1 Termination by Chronicle

Chronicle may terminate your account immediately and without notice for:

• Violation of these Terms or content policy
• Uploading prohibited or inappropriate content
• Abuse of the Service or other users
• Any reason deemed necessary to protect the Service or users

8.2 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your access to the Service is immediately revoked
• Your content may be permanently deleted
• No refunds or compensation are provided
• Your obligations under these Terms survive termination

9. Disclaimers and Warranties

9.1 No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. CHRONICLE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS:

• All warranties, express or implied
• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for purpose
• Guarantees of service availability or reliability
• Warranties regarding data accuracy or completeness

9.2 Service Limitations

Chronicle makes no guarantees regarding:

• Accuracy of GPS coordinates or mapping
• Completeness or correctness of location data
• Continuous availability of the Service
• Security of user data or communications
